bluesky is federated open protocol based with less of the mastodon mess, and not a commercial black box like threads and twitter, so it looks like the "correct" solution if it gets enough traction. I've been going on about this every since facebook got popular in the late 00s

meh I use debian for all real work, but I keep a mac laptop for low friction portability, and more complicated audio stuff too. A number of years ago I decided that `emacs -nw` on whatever host is most convenient was my editor, so really I just need a platform to run xterms on.
