I know this is a grognardy gripe, but I'm grumpy with how modern Trek increasingly treats warp drive as being just like Star Wars hyperdrive. And I get that VFX is its own shitshow of dysfunction and exploitation, but come *on* please don't just rip off the starstreaks coming out of lightspeed.

It's funny to me that the most visible Dirty Pair reference in Star Trek looped around to becoming animated again.

Sometimes people point out that the Star Trek TNG art folks were putting in Dirty Pair references (which, yes, means that anime IS real in Star Trek), but in fairness Dirty Pair started it.
