I am an environmental scientist and JSPS fellow working in Matsue, Japan. I investigate the ecology and impacts of climate change on freshwater ecosystems, including lakes, rock-holes and groundwater.

New paper out with @pbeasleyhall.bsky.social in Australia Entomology.

In it, three new species of cave cricket are described in the genus 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘹, and a fourth is transferred across from 𝘊𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘹.

The article is open-access and can be viewed at: dx.doi.org/10.1111/aen....

During this fellowship I will be investigating the climate vulnerability of the Japanese basket clam (Corbicula japonica) in the coastal lakes: Shinji and Nakaumi (pictured), which are being affected by rising sea levels and increasing salinity.

I was given an amazing send-off by @invertebratelab.bsky.social, who I will miss immensely.

But I'm also very excited for this new opportunity to lead my own research!

Exciting news!

I have just commenced a two-year Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. I am being hosted by Professor Hiroshi Yajima at the Estuary Research Centre, and Shimane University.
