Somebody's a little red in the face. 😉 Maybe he shouldn't have whacked this guy's girlfriend, even if it was his job. To me this print felt a little less cleaned up than the release cut, though fine. Another slow one for wrapping up the Thon, though. I think I would have preferred a little more action to wake me up for the trip home, which, it turns out, was much easier than the drive in, with clean dry roads and some strong wind. Everyone had fun, and survived. ^_^

A man and his girlfriend have a moment together. Oof, for me this was a slow one, even for a relationship focused film, though I am sure others found it fine for this time of day. What time it becomes harder to stay awake can shift, depending on personal factors as well as what movies play when. This one was tough for me at this time.

OK, a Japanese monster with a knife for a head is a new one on me. Flying space turtle with rockets available when it's legs are pulled in is more standard fair. Not a compelling movie, and I was really starting to drag. Adam hit the road afterwards, and now it's time for Her. ^_^

Yes, this was the Star Trek movie with the whales, and why yes, that is Spock swimming with them. No surprise that a Star Trek movie would be popular with this crowd, and this one was. Had half a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich, and almost out of juice. Still plenty of water though. The crowd has thinned out some, word has it that it is snowing out. Next up Gamera v Guiron. ^_^

Barbarella taking off her space suit in low gravity starts this campy sex in space film. Not good theater, though it does seem to be considered a classic. Campy, and it kept our crew awake, as will the next film, Star Trek IV : The Voyage Home. ^_^

A joint US and European shuttle mission to visit Haley's Comet finds Vampires in Space, then the vampire's tried sicking the life force from everyone in London. Turns out it's a love story, despite what happens to Sir Patrick Stewart. After the world was saved, it was time for the tin foil hat contest, which your's truly entered, with my stealth hat, and had fun, as seen below. And finally we get The Day the Earth Stood Still. ^_^

A mother and child moment from Arrival, which ... well, spoilers. I really like this movie, and got things I missed the first time. I already bought my ticket for next year, SF51, at a great price of $80. I understand Ken got his as well. Grabbed some aluminum foil, so maybe I'll enter the contest this year. Still having issues with The Day the Earth Stood Still, so Lifeforce is up next. ^_^

A brief happy moment before free limitless energy rules the world, and the devil comes for his due. I always forget how attention silent movies require, since if you look away you may miss words which are key to understanding. After this movie, Tony and some friends gathered in the landing outside the balcony for a group photo, missing a cartoon and the announcement that The Day the Earth Stood Still is having sound issues, so they swapped it with Arrival. So that is next. ^_^

We had a sing-a-long, with tailored video, of Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla, though the restless crowd took a bit to get under control. We sang loud while Godzilla stomped through Somerville. Then Garen came up, gave an award to Larry, the founder of the first Thon. And it was time for atomic fireballs and Duck Dodgers. ^_^

The weather reports indicated we might be waiting in snow, then it became sleet, then freezing rain. Ew. Made me think maybe I wouldn't walk to the theater from Alewife, though my companions dressed for walking, so we did. In the rain. Through deep slush and puddles. And I switched to sneakers as my daily shoes a few months back, from years of boots as dailies, so didn't think about footwear, and ended with socked feet.

AS the 24 hours of the Thon draws near, more updates have been coming out. Previously I posted about the list of films, and noted the start time for each film had not been made public yet. Then I noted a couple more film additions, and still now times. Guess what, more changes and this time that includes times. One thing that surprised me was the opening film, which I am pretty sure I saw an early announcement about it being the opening film for the first Thon, and to celebrate 50 years, it would be the opening film for this one.

Heads up social media, I have dropped dlvr.it for spreading the word of new blog posts to other social media platforms, as I don't use it much and they no longer have a free offering. In looking for an alternative, I discovered that my blogging platform, WordPress, has just such an offering, making it seemless to try out, and so I am.
