I have a feeling this will happen but I really need there to be an uptick in politically charged YA dystopians. Specifically in the vein of Parable of the Sower rather than Divergent. I want real and unavoidable commentary.

I completely agree on urban fantasy. I miss it and want it to come back. I want the tropification of books out. Specifically in the romance adjacent genres.

Books and writing in general are inherently political. I don’t think I’ll ever understand people who can’t grasp that. Especially horror.

Paperback but hardcovers look best on the shelf. I typically choose ebooks for novellas and poetry though.

Parable of the Talents in my opinion is just as good as the first one. If you feel mentally prepared I definitely recommend giving it a read. All I’ll say though is Octavia Butler was a prophet.

I highly recommend Parable of the Sower. It does hit a little too close to home though.

I’m slowly working my way through her catalog and I absolutely adore each book I’ve read. She was an incredible author.

I recently read the Xenogenesis series by Octavia Butler and absolutely adored it. I’m currently rereading Fahrenheit 451 because existential dread consumes me.
