Yes, that's an old photo.
To be fair, that would probably be easier than abolishing the Treasury.

I've never seen another RPG replicate the experience of being on the receiving end of a 30 minute historical lecture by some random guy in a tavern, all because you made the mistake of asking him a question about what guilds are nearby.

My Grandmother had 5 siblings that left post-war Glasgow for the US and Canada.

That scale of emigration is just hard to comprehend now.

It went both ways as well - "Scot" being a shorthand term for a peddler in parts of Central Europe in the 1500s really gives a sense of how widespread the movement of people was.

They could have saved themselves a lot of time by simply speaking to literally anyone that works for a Local Authority.

This reads like a distant cousin of "Americans don't have accents".

He does give off weapons-grade levels of divorced dad energy.

Finding out there was nowhere in Berlin's swanky new airport where you could fill up an empty water bottle beyond a certain point was a bit of a shock.

Looking at the Minsk Agreements in hindsight, if they were actually implemented in full it would have been a turbo-fucked Dayton-esque nightmare.

The Kremlin's self-sabotage of any attempt to implement it highlights just how garbage they are at political strategy.

I've now got the fear that I obtain a minor level of fame/infamy, and my MySpace account from almost 20 years ago gets discovered and people learn just how garbage my taste in music was then.

Makes Labour crapping themselves with a GE years away and repeatedly throwing their voting base under a bus seem even more ludicrous

With hindsight, the first post-Soviet Russian political party being the Liberal Democratic Party (famously neither liberal or democratic) should have been a big ol' warning sign.

I remember my Italian flatmate in uni halls being slightly shellshocked after he and his pals were stopped on the street and had their open beers confiscated - having not realised that the police here took a dim view on such things.

It's pretty solid, the only thing I'd really question is the term "brewery tap", I've pretty much only ever seen them referred to as taprooms.

Also, genuinely impressed to see The Laurieston in Glasgow get referenced.

Neil Oliver's descent from doing slightly theatrical (and easily parodied) but generally inoffensive Scottish history programmes to... whatever it is he's doing now is fascinating.

The signs were there earlier if you look at what he wrote in the 90s former Yugoslavia conflicts

The Timex factory actually played a role in that - in the 1980s they manufactured ZX Spectrums, which led to a computer club/hobbiest culture in the city. There's a good doc online about DMA Design (Rockstar's precursor) which goes into that:
