We're gonna find out alright...
I have a pertinent new idea in my fairly developed good trouble seeking mind. 100% related to the rallies. I need help on it. Reaching out to you first. Dougshortridge - gmail

The Colossus Police State!

I very much appreciated your Q&A last Fri. 3 pertinent things as I interpreted them:

1. Musk/Trump as semi-coordinated-yet-independent dualism;
2. Musk possibly gathering data to train his “AI Police State”;
3. Government agency sabotage is an ongoing tactic in this coup attempt.

My third point is general in the context of the first two. The point is that oligarchs are destroying the USA. Putin is an oligarch involved and has the experience of his beloved former USSR to look to.

Oligarchy is the goal.
Sabotage of the whole is the strategy.
The collapse of the USSR is the model.

No. The “thank you” was the political script line prepared in advance. They knew it would either go their preferred way; Shut Down - blame the Dems, or if not; continue with same plan and “thank” Schumer as a political kick. Smart people, with plenty of thinking time. You need to know your enemy.

No, he did exactly the opposite of that. He stood up for the least bad of the two choices. Tonight 4/4-4/5 there is a UNIFIED caucus picking apart and forcing votes by Republicans to haunt them later by showing the record of their bad votes. This is a war, not a battle. Move forward, keep unity!

Early work on a Substack platform tool to facilitate this. Don’t reinvent the wheel, brush up on earlier work! open.substack.com/pub/dougshor...

Nice! I have no idea if the early work done on this concept added much to what will turn out to be the final form but my best guess is it surely did. open.substack.com/pub/dougshor...

Yes, yes, yes

I agree. And I think the more unity Dems attain the easier to pick off some. Cult members do break off, it’s just a one at a time thing as you’ve suggested.

That’s my point. At the end Schumer called in by phone in what appeared to me to be a very choreographed call. Booker told him “no” when Schumer requested to ask a question. The Schumer gushed congrats. My take is his physical absence before this final was a signal of batton pass.

Haha! I remember when I was 48 and those whipper snappers thought I was old. Let’s see…48…yeah that seems like a year ago…
April 3, 2025 at 6:31 PM
No doubt. But I was less incensed because I’ve been indie for decades. But after Booker? That was it. Changed my reg just yesterday to Dem. I’ll stay. And I’ll be causin’ all the fucking good trouble I can till the last!

I hear you. None of Whats been happening looks good though. When I consider the collapse option, etc. I think they all did the least-bad move. Good to consider your thoughts. Thanks.

You are a young man with a good mind and family! I’m an angry young man who just looks old! 65. My family got destroyed, lots of reasons underlying but drugs/alcohol finally one could say. It could have been worse and was for my sisters. Much of the story is sad, but I persevere. Clean 38 years now.

If you don’t think once Booker was ready to commit his and staff’s energy to a 25 hr stand he didn’t run it by Schumer for his blessing you don’t know how things work in Congress. Schumer’s call at the end convinced me of his full awareness and blessing.

I think there was much more agreement than meets the eye in keeping govt open. But they realized the whole party was/is at verge of collapse. So a few who could afford it voted yes to take the heat. This gave a large no vote body to the pissed off public Dems pending Bookers filibuster-like effort.
April 3, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Ok, I see enough to admit I nor anyone, knows for sure how to perfectly navigate this. Using a 1974 law? Maybe? Etc. But the fact they are majority means they control the committee and this is all developing in committee. There is very little the minority can do other than filibuster on occasion.

That’s like trying to get people in The Peoples Temple from drinking the koolaid. 900 poisoned their selves by orders of Jim Jones in that cult. And there are many more examples.
April 3, 2025 at 5:47 PM
The Republicans are in the majority, they don’t need to bypass the parliamentary procedure rules in the first place. Please, basic civics studies. Try to do some of that. Wikipedia maybe?
April 3, 2025 at 5:43 PM
Uhhh, you mean by getting the majority to vote yes for that? Come on, you gotta get a basic understanding why this is an impossible ask.
April 3, 2025 at 5:40 PM
Speaking of CEOs…Curtis Yarvin is the theorist in large part for what is happening. He is anti-democracy, instead wanting authoritarian CEOs running the world. This is an authoritarian coup attempt. Chaos and pain are a way to lower standards and wear people down so they comply.

Another grandfather gazed by bullet thru helmet in WW1 French trenches. He died with 70 KKK outfits in his attic. How’s that for contrast? Man I got stories!
