Methane has accounted for about 30% of global warming so far, according to UNEP

www.unep.org/news-and-sto...

And here's a good primer from Clean Air Coalition

www.ccacoalition.org/short-lived-...
Methane emissions are driving climate change. Here’s how to reduce them.
This primer explores the causes of methane emissions and how the world can limit the release of this potent greenhouse gas.

Beware where this goes:

“AI objections undermine the whole rationale for public consultation as 'they know their areas best'

“But if all locals are doing is deciding they don’t like the scheme before AI analysis to find out *why* they don’t like it, is there any point in asking them at all?”

indeed. Whether local applications work I have no idea. But I'm guessing it won't stop someone trying

It's basically cutting important capital spending on an "infrastructure priority" (the housing stock) in order to reduce costs now

It's not like that's never failed before - see, for example, sewage in rivers, state of roads, electricity grid logjam etc

I'm sure other countries have examples too

Intimidation included approaching country officials during coffee breaks to warn them they might not be able to transit via the US, or that they & their families could face restrictions on entering the country if they acted against American interests

The USA is a rogue state on climate

The IMO was preparing to act on its climate emissions because international shipping sits outside the framework of emissions from countries governed by UNFCCC

The proposal - widely supported before US intimidation - was a carbon tax on CO2 emissions to subsidise the development of cleaner shipping

Many organisations like Chem Trust and FIDRA are calling for a ban on all PFAS. They're so persistent in the environment that by the time you find a problem, it's too late

Water companies and academics agree

Thanks to @watershed-i.bsky.social for this investigation

As they've been used over a long time they can find their way into drinking water as rain leaches from landfill sites or firefighting training sites

2 of the most dangerous PFAS have been banned as World Health Org now considers them carcinogenic

But many PFAS are still being used
