The ban youre suggesting is a shortcut solution that you know is obviously not fair. Getting rid of private schools or at least private school subsidies would be much more effective, and solve other systemic issues at the same time. But saying "ban all rich pricks from everything" is better bait.

I lived in the UK for only two years between the age 9-11, and I went to an ACS Private School (im sure you could've guessed lol) not Eton but close enough. I wasn't old enough to care, but Im sure most the ppl there were Tory c***. However, also lots of good ppl who I still keep in touch with. /1

Ok fair enough. One serious question though - do you think disassociating and seeking out an escape from reality is a problem uniquely inherent to capitalism, or a a basic part of the human experience? Maybe a bit too philosophical but something I've been wondering since you started yapping on this

Have you given this any thought at all? Competency tests for voting have existed in the past and I promise you it didnt hurt private school graduates one bit. Also - even if they tend to be pricks with terrible politics - they arent stupid and would pass most exams.

As a form of escape in general. Alcohol is an accessible and affordable escape, and other more fulfilling ways to distract ourselves are less accessible. These can all de attributed to capitalism and poor socialisation, not solely the nature of alcohol. /2
