I do robots now. I co-chair the committee that runs the two FRC regional events in Duluth MN. I also head a group that works to make the FRC robotics teams in NE Minnesota more sustainable and competitive. Energy policy, EVs also. Slava Ukraini!
Adam agrees!

Corgis are cute and Nyssa tries, but I never had this problem when Vargen the half Shepard half Husky was around.

It was pretty straightforward when I did it 15 months ago. Montana and Wyoming have good coverage on the interstates. The state that sucks is North Dakota, but even that is much improved over the past year.

I have the perfect image to describe this trumpcare plan. It's accurate and really demonstrates the ouroboros of stupidity in that post.

Now I have to share. Here's mine under construction. I had the inspector come out and approve the rough in with the conduit so I didn't have to worry about him asking me to move something and having to rebuy the wire just 2 feet longer.

The day after we get back from a 2900 mile EV road trip where the Porsche nav was useless they added this. I can now turn off the useless tesla stations and tell it to prefer EA and Kwik Charge.

Sadly, the Porsche route planner failed this year. It kept trying to send us to Tesla chargers that we don't have an adapter for. It also seems to preference anything but EA. It would route us to a 180 kW Circle K ignoring a 350 kW EA. My car can charge above 250 kW, I want a charger that can too.

EV road trip 2025 is in the books. 2900 miles with stops in Indianapolis, Charlotte, Extrajudicial-killingburg VA, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. Despite having issues with a few chargers (mostly on the first day) wherever there was a bad charger there was a functional if slower one nearby.

What kind of range do I get at highway (80 mph) speeds? It will show 250 around town next week, but while sustained high speed cruising eats range it can charge so quickly it doesn't matter.

That's literally the opposite of what you said upthread. But I'm glad we seem to agree.

Math. EVs generally get about 3 miles per kWh. So in the best-case scenario in the southwest there is enough solar power to add 18 miles a day. But the best solar cells are about 30% efficient so it's more like 5 miles of range per day in San Diego. More like 2 in the northern border states.

Just going to drop this here to show that Minnesota has a better credit rating than the US Federal Government has.

Third year at the Harvest Fest EV row. I spent most of today talking with folks about how EVs work in Duluth (they work really well) and answering any questions people had. I don't think I convinced anyone to buy a Porsche EV, but several people were looking to buy before the tax credit runs out.

Guess what dumbass found fresh bear crap in the yard.

I'm driving to Charlotte NC in a couple of weeks, here's how A Better Route Planner sees the trip. Note that the charging stops are spaced out every 150 or so miles with each stop being between 6 and 16 minutes. The key is to have a car that can charge faster than John Wick can kill assassins.

When was this 5 or 10 years ago? I'm doing Duluth MN to Charlote NC in an EV in a couple of weeks and there is plenty of fast charging out there. Here are all the CCS1 (non tesla) chargers in Ohio with greater than 180 kW capability.

I got the economic impact numbers for the robotics competition I co-chair in Duluth. We brought an estimated $1,529,250.00 to Duluth and the surrounding region. I'm not sure where we stand now, but in the past, we've been second to only Grandma's Marathon. #FIRSTFRC #OMGRobots

Tonight's wine is a lovely Pinot from Dancing vineyards in Medford Oregon.

First trip to the cabin for both the Nyssa of Traken (the corgi) and Lorelai (the Taycan).

Plus you get to occasionally see stuff like this.

I'm not sure you should be complaining about the illiteracy of others when you cannot even manage to get your employer's name correct. It's The Economist. Perhaps you can blame a shoddy LLM for the error.
