Speaking as a Canadian, I would be firmly against that. I think it would be political suicide in most countries. We had a trade deal, and then it was reneged upon by the states, so we have to pay them off? It’s just extortion

It’s been said a few times but I think Americans don’t realize that Canada has been lost to you already. This sentiment has exploded here, we cannot trust America any longer. It will take generations for that trust to rebuild.
