Huge thank you to @portybooks.bsky.social for looking after and posting Monkey; a teddy my daughter has taken to bed since she was 2! We didn’t realise Monkey was still in the bookshop until we got home. He lived my dream of a sleepover at a bookshop.

New father and philosophy lecturer Malcolm Munro accidentally becomes a beacon for a men’s rights group. As a former student builds a large protest outside his office, he takes a new book deal and recklessly leans into his new persona, alienating his partner and new dad pals.

Aside from usual Christmas fare (Die Hard, Uncle Buck, Indy) I think what makes me the feel the most christmassy is the Simpsons episode where Bart shoplifts and the Toy Story short that takes place in the magical week between Christmas and New Year.

Dropped the girls off at a party, was about to go home to wrap presents but instead I saw signs for a book fair. Prime Dad time. And a great haul.
