Next Friday, 8 August, I'm DJing with my fellow Radio 1 DJ Babe LN outside Prague in the lovely lakeside venue Bar Nebe in Branžež (yeah, I had to look it up too, ngl). But what a spot! See you there Friday night!

Tonight I found on an unused hard disk a mix I made back in 2004 when I was DJing at the Palac Akropolis here in Prague. It’s a big room/Latin house/Brazilian batucada kind of affair. Check it out! www.mixcloud.com/douglasa/%C5...

Tomorrow night at 7pm I’ll be interviewed by my friend and fellow DJ Jerry Žák as part of the “Radio 1 Nablízko [Up Close]” series of conversations. We’ll be talking and I’ll also play some of the tracks that have formed me as a DJ. See you at Čítárna Unijazz in Žižkov at 7pm!

Our Christmas tradition is that every year we add one ornament that tells the story of the year. This year’s ornament is a capybara, which means a lot especially to Joey, who was photographed with capybaras at the Prague Zoo for this year’s Czech Cystic Fibrosis Association calendar. Happy Holidays!

It’s here! My translation of Linda Kudrnovska and Filip Blažek’s “Identity: The Story of Czech Graphic Design” launched yesterday. The book is beautiful. My thanks to Elizabeth Spacilova for turning the coal of my text into diamonds. Buy here: shop.bontonfilm.cz/159-identita #graphicdesign #books

As a translator from Czech to English, I’ve been racking my brain over how to translate “Diky, že můžeme.” It’s the slogan for the commemorations of the Velvet Revolution. The closest I’ve gotten so far is “Thanks to you, we can.” Suggestions welcome. #dikyzemuzeme

Anička and I paid our respects today on the 35th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. Because freedom isn’t free. #dikyzemuzem #Prague

Baseball stole my heart. Today I won this t-shirt in a giveaway at my local, Automat Matuška, on their 2nd anniversary. One of the great things about Matuška: they’ve always been big supporters of Czech baseball. Today and tomorrow the Czechs play Japan, and Automat is the place to be. Go Czechs!
