U of T and the other top five or so institutions can weather this. Carney wants more star researchers poached from the states because it's good press so they'll back a few big research chairs. But where will those stars' PhD students go and work? they'll walk out to devastation

stanford is a good control case, as they've operated with no public regime hostility but are affected by the big endowment tax jump: no phd cuts, just some staff layoffs and hiring/salary freezes. It really is the fed research cuts making the difference at Harvard.

what finds purchase instead is some projected idea of white masculine fantasy and the injustice of its unreality, then searching for an explanation for itself. but that has little relation to USians accessing cheaper credit than foreigners, something they do not know is true
