Tried a bit of aggressive rapid blinking at some live-streaming shelf-blockers in a Kanda bookstore today to no effect. If we’re going to really 守る manners I guess it’s time to sit up.

"will come" and "could" are doing a wee bit more work in those first two paragraphs than is perhaps sound. But, mind you, for those who like that sort of thing, that is the sort of thing they like.

Hope the young people enjoy reading that great African writer Augustine. Not the most important point, obviously, but so dreary that all the most promising ways of reading these authors get squeezed out by this dull fantasy of "the" West. "Something worth retaining" does wonders of evasion here too.
