Took a cruise to see the seals on Seal Island, Loch Linnhe 🦭🦭🦭🦭🦭🦭 next morning they were outside our hotel window, just splashing about 😂 I think they followed us! Fort William is amazing

(PS if you like egotistical, neurotic family members hating each other, in the setting of a cramped caravan, mixed into a murder mystery, then Celia Fremen's Uncle Paul is for you 🫣)

The premise for The Franchise Affair is brilliant: an icy middle aged woman and her awful mum are accused of kidnapping and assaulting a teenage girl. Deny all knowledge. I WAS GUESSING UNTIL THE LAST PAGE 😬 haven't enjoyed such an idiosyncratic page-turner since Celia Fremlin's Uncle Paul

I need to read every night in bed, always have. It's usually horror, sci-fi or crime. I've got into the Inspector Grant mysteries and Josephine Tey's back catalogue after The Franchise Affair -- that rollicking society crime familiar to Christie fans.🫆🔎🐧Can't believe I've never heard of her before.

As well as making a life size replica of her grandma's house (!) at Parr Theatre, Jones has curated Any, Body, Home at Warrington Museum & Art Gallery, on the theme of ‘home’ from a female perspective – feat Rachel Maclean, Emily Speed, and others

As I'm visiting two new exhibitions by Marie Jones today, I'll share my last catalogue essay for the textile artist here:

A woman's work

In which Jones highlights the conditions facing artists, makes us laugh, gives the next gen hope.
