And that's what they need to do going forward - focus on the writing first. But sadly, I'm at a point where I honestly can't think of a single SW project that could be announced that would excite me at this stage. Plus no movies on the big screen in almost 7 years is unforgivable.

...but there were far more lows and the once beloved franchise has been reduced to a shadow of its former self. The rushed sequel trilogy was ultimately a bust and a string of awful tv shows has further diluted the brand. The biggest successes were the one with the best writing.

Jedi has the worst changes - the horrible Jedi Rocks musical number, and the worst of the lot - Hayden Christensen as Anakin at the end instead of Sebastian Shaw. It makes zero sense especially if you're watching the films in order of release for the first time. Rant over.

It speaks volumes that Empire is the one with the minimal amount of tweaks. The new scene with Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine adds nothing but the awful new dialogue when Vader is departing Cloud City showing his arrival at his Star Destroyer using shots from Jedi is unforgivable.

Other changes were totally unnecessary - the extended arrival into Mos Eisley, Greedo shooting first, the AWFUL Jabba scene and the extra troopers waiting around the corner for Han and Chewie (which admittedly got a laugh at the time).

Actually, two of the kids movies I saw were GREAT - The Wild Robot and Minecraft.

One of the problems is that they have brought several characters back from the dead - death has no permanence any more and cheapens the whole franchise. TROS has about six death fake-outs in it alone. Plus the sequel trilogy was such a damb squib in the end they have lost the general audience anyway

I gave up on the entire franchise a long time ago, sadly. So have many fans. And i think they've all but lost lost the casual audience.

And the pacing was the worst I've seen since The Rise of Skywalker. Overall, it was just too James Gunn. Amazed it's being received so well. Give me Reeve any day of the week.

It's pure Indy.
