I think you underestimate the youth's growing buy-in (pun intended) into sports betting and also the power of luxury/influencer propaganda in getting the youth to continue to idolize luxury

That's it. Time to rezone the airport.
December 4, 2025 at 9:03 PM
I really need a TLDR on what has been happening with zoning for the past couple months I'm very out of the loop

Worth saying that this is placed for peds to watch for chiefly bikes and scooters first, cars second. Helps that SLC downtown streets all have 130ft+ of ROW. Insane stuff with ROW trees, 5ft-10ft sidewalks, bike lanes, concrete protection, and at least 2 vehicle lanes (some bus) with turn lanes

I was more meaning that (I believe) the ultimate intent of CHYM and other improvements are to increase ridership/increase mode shift percentages. Our transit usage is horribly low, so any real percentage increase in shifts would be quite a lot of new people

There's been no intention to insult or hostility from my side, sorry if it came across that way. Just trying to talk about the stuff we all care about cordially
November 20, 2025 at 6:38 PM
That's fair. Although that is with current ridership. With increased services (possibly made possible by that annual $7-8m) the hope would be we could double/triple/quadruple our annual ridership, with (I would reckon) the majority of added riders having less and less rates of eligibility
November 20, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Yeah fair, all I know is that $7/$8m is barely less than NDOT annual sidewalk funding (pre-CHYM). That doesn't just come from nowhere. Do we know the savings they'd see from going fare free?
November 20, 2025 at 6:32 PM
You can see the cause of the most recent iteration because a car took out one of the house's front pillars nearby (just been replaced with wood, the house on the WB side right at the intersection in the curve)
November 20, 2025 at 6:31 PM
It's definitely not nothing and I think it would be nice to go fare free but if I have to choose I'd rather get more* service rather than free* service while ensuring folks that need free can get it
November 20, 2025 at 6:28 PM
Not a traffic calming project but reaction(s)/responses to a large amount of regular crashes at the curve/intersection
November 20, 2025 at 6:27 PM
But also... $25k for a window?
