What a year! I think the biggest change has been the sudden passing of my dad in the summer just a month before starting my PhD.

What a year!

#ResearchAdvent Day 14

My scholarship focuses on SPED policy & decision-making especially how SLD eligibility is interpreted in practice and what that means for equity.

Currently in CEC Diversity Leadership Academy & Breaking Barriers: Elevating Math for Diverse Learners PD cohort (2025–2026).

I’m realizing my work lives in the in-between. Practice, research, policy, lived experience, all talking to each other. Gloria Anzaldúa wrote about this kind of borderland knowledge long before I had words for it.

Practice ↔ Research
Research ↔ Policy
Policy ↔ Lived experience

I wonder...
when structured, team-based decisions supports lead to more consistent eligibility decisions; could that reduce error or bias? Could that lead to better aligned with IDEA intent?

Day 10 #ResearchAdvent Methodology. For my research & design methods course we were tasked to only use visuals and speak on our designs. I’m a 1st year and currently interested in randomized experiments in educational policy research.

You are my Day 3 #ResearchAdvent post. I appreciate you making me more aware of wicked theory. I saw it in my research. I didn’t know the depth of the term until now. Thank you 🙏🏽
This sounds like one of those ‘wicked’ edu problems.
Good to meet you.

Reading from the Wiley Series on probability today, it’s technical, but kind of fascinating.
Now I’m curious about the people behind the theorems. Who were they? What were they solving?
Math history feels like this quiet backstory no one tells us.

For the past 3 weeks my mom and siblings have been staying with my dad at the hospital. Soon school will start and both my brother and I work in education. It’s been a blessing to be stay by my dad’s side through his healing journey. Who knew he’d be glad for summers this way, I know I am.
