Yes I’ve read about it, turkey tails or trametes versicolour is thought to have health benefits, boosting the immune system although the fungi books that I have says it’s not edible. I think you can buy capsules for dogs in health food shops.

I always leave them, there are so many look alikes that I wouldn’t trust myself to ID them correctly. If I want to eat eat mushrooms I buy them. I like finding them and trying to identify them though 🍄‍🟫🍄

It’s the red tips that produce the spores to make new plants. I believe it can be extracted to make a red dye although these days there are much better alternatives .
