Microsoft dev. I don't really post, but when I do, opinions are my own
I'm really sick of the notion that people who demonstrate terrible values deserve grace

In this particular case, the bakery won on a completely different issue. Supreme Court of the United States ruled Colorado's Civil Rights Commission was hostile to the bakery for their religion

They did NOT overturn anti-discrimination laws or how they apply to private businesses open to the public

Anti-discrimination laws apply to privately owned businesses open to the public. That's the point of them

Not being discriminated against becuase of sexual orientation is a right. If the bakery didn't discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, there wouldn't have been a case

Imagine a person with sincerely held religious beliefs that they must kill people with black hair. Then they murder someone with black hair. Does the free exercise clause means they were within their rights to murder? Obviously not

In case this is supposed to be an earnest "why can't I use religion to justify discrimination in my business open to the public?" reply, it's because freedom of religion means the right to hold religious beliefs and opinions. It does not extend to taking away other people's rights

Minor thing: I get the point about expecting everyone to embrace changing their values, but w.r.t. to gay wedding cakes, public accommodations shouldn't, and legally can't, discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation

Eh, there were a lot of fried brained political journalists and editors four years ago too, and even before that. But I agree that Twitter isn't helping!

Canceled both my WaPo and Amazon Prime subscriptions. Maybe I'll write an email to Jeff too. I judge newspapers by their straight news, not the opinions/columns/editorials, but obeying-in-advance like this is too much
