Usually, in Feb. we get some days that are fairly warm and the bees can make cleansing runs, and I can lift the cover a bit to change their blankets. Also to give a bit of something to add to their diet-very ripe bananas.

I'm a bit worried about my bees. Their "attic" temps. are changing. Maybe they have moved a bit away from where the thermometers are, or they are dying off.
One that was one of the coolest, is rising in temp.

The squeak has gone out of the snow. I love it when it's cold enough to have squeaky snow. It means very little moisture.
Today it warmed up and the squeak was gone. Ok for snowballs. But the cold is returning, more squeak!

There is another new wrinkle. All the usual news networks that have had offices in the Pentagon have until 2/14 to vacate their offices. Other news personel will be coming in to take their places. They are doing everything they can to keep citizens in the dark!

Something that I haven't seen on the list is "Ham Radio".
I am a ham operator, but am seldom on, but my son and lots of people in the NE are as well. He has contacts all over the world and is an "extra", the highest he can go. He got me started about 20 years ago, "kb1ogr", I'm seldom on.

Neither of my boxers have coats but they go out in all kinds of weather. They have a dog door, which helps. Yesterday, Peter came in on 3 legs. He had a cold foot. It wasn't long before he went out to play again. He isn't always too smart. Guy watched him from a window.

I have a metal roof, even on the bulkhead, which the kitties cannot get onto. My idea is to make a birdfeeder that will sit on the bulkhead. I've started, but only so far as to cut out a cardboard template for the base. I like cats, but I also like birds

My "kittens" are about 8 years old and this past Christmas they got a couple of worn out pre-made bows that make great toys. I find them all over the family room, different spots, different days. Bows may actually be older than the cats.

Cold weather is here, and means to stay. Even the Catnip plants got frosted last night. The cats will have to do with dry until next summer.
