Maybe I'm missing something but:
National Living Wage £12.21/hr (illegal for employers to pay workers below the NLW) which equates to £23810 p.a.
Income tax and NI result in £20662 take-home.
I suspect many pensioners would gladly be taxed the same way as a worker for that sort of take-home.
