I also had a number of questions that could be answered by picking the most flattering response - if I hadn't known how the national anthem describes the Queen I would have figured it out because the other options were absurd.

It's very straightforward. I read the preparation book in the pub and then passed. There's enough simple questions (when's Hogmanay, what colour is the Scottish flag - I took the test in Scotland) that it doesn't matter if you don't know the right number of officials for some bureaucratic procedure

I remember first reading about climate change in a German children's magazine Geolino (National Geographic for kids, basically) when I was eight, in 1998. It was a formative moment! I definitely knew I wanted to do "something with the evironment/climate change" when I was in secondary school.

It's pretty bleak that one of Westminster's highest priorities is making sure no one like me could come to the UK in future.
