Not sure how to embed a post instead of linking it. I should probably have figured that out by now...

Glad they specified to clean the squirrel, I almost made a huge mistake!

My mom thinks it was originally rum balls, and my grandma changed it to bourbon. It references "woman's day" and I found this link for a 1960s rum balls recipe also from women's day. A fairly close match although notable double the alcohol content. www.food.com/recipe/rum-b...

I found this recipe in the Woman's Day Cooking Encyclopedia. . .one of those buy-a-volume-a-week things from the mid-Sixties. . .but these will never

@prune602.bsky.social finally got my folks to send my grandma's recipe over. Looks like we were the weird second type 😂

At the very least it adds to cost and complexity which is good in itself.

Despite the unique governorship trends it would be risky for them crack down on what is a red state nationally. They want large blue cities in reliably blue states for the messaging. MAGA might not care, but independents, libertarians, and small government minded Republicans wouldn't be happy.

I used to have a couple hives. You need to leave a good amount for the bees to make it through winter. Another possibility is that they are harvesting more than they should to make up for lost revenue and are putting the hives at greater risk.

From memory I think mine were chocolate dough with glaze, kind of like a donut hole but bigger. I was pretty young though, I'll have to see if my dad still has the recipe. My grandma was Irish, grew up in New Hampshire and then Jersey, but at some point she developed a love for bourbon.

Nice! I'll try these. My grandma used to make a tin of bourbon balls for my dad every year and a bourbon-free tin for my brother and me, but without fail we would open the wrong tin and the built up fumes would nearly knock me out.

Thanks! Maybe I should read some of these in the morning😂

I've wanted to do a cross country tour on trans Siberia. I can't even guess how long it will be before that's a safe option again for foreigners.

I think Zadornov might have that vantage point soon if he keeps being honest...
