Happy 93rd birthday to Sylvia Plath! 🎂
I could not choose a favourite quote so I thought I would share some of my Plath books.

Today was my last official day of employment as a Lecturer in Modern English at the University of Groningen. 1.5 years of Dutch living. I’m a jobless academic now going back to England. Desperate for any #academic #teaching role, #postdoc or any #writingopportunity

I Gave You Eyes and You Looked Toward Darkness is so far my best read of 2025. A fever-dream folk horror story with allusions to One Hundred Years of Solitude, witches, devils, the Spanish Civil War. Generations of women in a whispery poetic cacophony. Always looking for new #witchstories

I've gained a lot of new followers this week, so let me introduce myself. 👋 Researching Sylvia Plath, witches, post-war American literature, ecocriticism, and occasionally Taylor Swift. Hungarian by birth, at the moment in the Netherlands, but also in England. Red lip classic, poetry, cooking, gym.

The conference part of the Swiftposium
is kicking in a few hours! This is my first night-time/Australian conference, so wish me luck presenting at 3am on Taylor Swift and girlhood.

I swear I don’t find the research, it finds me: Freud’s Tarock packs, likely similar to Plath’s cards mentioned in “Daddy”: “With my gipsy ancestress and my weird luck / And my Taroc pack and my Taroc pack”

Perks of having a mum working in the theatre: free theatre tickets… I just saw a really engaging play called 3 Winters about a 3 generations of Croatian family navigating life through WW2, Yugoslavia, and joining to the EU. Plus my dad just came back with giant doughnuts from Slovenia!

Some weeks ago I got an email from someone who read my interview in the Hungarian Glamour online magazine about Sylvia Plath from last year. Csongor Palotás had a new translation of Plath's poems, and he wanted to send me copy. Today, I arrived to Hungary and this was waiting for me. #SylviaPlath
