I love that Debora Cahn's script for the season finale of The Diplomat opens with a 4-page scene of dialogue between two people, and no one can stop her because she's the showrunner. THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE. The audience doesn't care about your "rules." They just want not to be bored.

Pasadena Humane Society: “This adorable, fluffy dog (A518889) was found as a stray in a neighborhood near Fair Oaks Ave & Orange Grove Blvd. We believe she may live in the area but we don't know for sure. She is not microchipped, but she is super friendly and someone out there must be missing her."

Those old, half-ramshackle beachfront homes from the 30s, 40s, 50s... they weren't made for billionaires; they were part of the character and history of this place. All the pieces swept off the board.

I am currently safe from the fires. I regret social media is so fragmented these days; for the past few weeks I've been posting on FB, with the occasional posting here or on X. There's no one spot that covers all, or even most. But I wanted to say I'm okay!

A dog named Gus has been acquired.

I met a 35-pound bernedoodle puppy and it seems we will be having a relationship. He needs a name, and at the moment I'm torn between Gus and Paladin. (He strikes me as quietly heroic, but it's early days, and maybe I'll laugh at this take later.)

My French doors have been covered in plastic for weeks (long story). I don't know when they'll be fixed, but a young man is here now, carefully cutting the plastic from around the glass so at least I can have a view for Christmas! He is singing O Holy Night as he works.
