I also have stuff like prosthetics being different based on muscle structure (like how sprinters have different mass than a weight-lifter) which is what Jules invented to make them more accessible. Again it’s something I’ve written but edited out because I didn’t think it was relevant yet

I basically just tried to do a play on the prosthetic limbs usually found in other steampunk stories, with a bit of an emphasis on themes in the Victorian era of medical science and capitalism

I have an idea of how to describe the technology behind the limbs, steampunk is still scifi/fictional despite my references to real world things. But, I’ve been unable to find a good point to get into the information in writing because of how long-winded it is. Perhaps when I write about Henri.

Yeah, in order to keep it a steampunk story I refer to things in the Victorian/1800s era that might’ve still be around despite some of the fictional technology advances (window knockers existed until 1950s!)
And yes, they are, through the spinal cord similar to how your body moves now (nerves)
