And yeah; it isn’t about Wicked being good or bad; the detail that he mentioned is just wrong, which was what I was trying to say. I really don’t care if he liked it or not, but complaining about something not being in the adaptation when it’s not in the original is not a valid criticism.

Yes, it did. Thanks for the input, but it’s all good. I don’t know why, but he seems very upset by the whole thing. I’m just letting him get on with it.

…as are you?
But fine; if getting the last word means that much to you, be my guest.
November 24, 2024 at 6:51 PM
Lol, I’m really not bothered. Like I’ve said repeatedly; different people like different things. You do you.
November 24, 2024 at 6:34 PM
Actually, no I didn’t;
You said that Elphaba’s parents had an affair with the Wizard, and I corrected you.
Everything else is just in your head. I never even said whether I thought the book/play/film were good or not.

You seem really worked up right now, I have to say. I never said that you shouldn’t dislike for the film/book, or that you shouldn’t express your tastes. On the other hand, you seem determined to attack those who you think disagree with you as “deluded.”
Really feels like you’re projecting here.
November 24, 2024 at 6:17 PM
Oh, I have no problem that you don’t enjoy it. As I said, different people like different things.

If you look back over our conversation, you’ll see that I was simply correcting the fact that you’ve misremembered an element of the book.

And yeah, the film is popular in part because of Grande. But it’s also one of the most successful musicals of the last 20 years. Lots of people have been waiting for it for years.
November 24, 2024 at 6:10 PM
But that’s not what you said. You were specifically complaining that they’d left out an event from the book that only happened in your imagination.

Perhaps you should try therapy, if you’re that disturbed by a book from a decade ago? Or try reading something you enjoy?

Everybody has different tastes, so of course different people are going to enjoy different books. Dwelling on it probably isn’t that healthy, though.

Thanks! Nice to know I’m not going crazy or completely misremembering the book.
November 24, 2024 at 5:55 PM
So you’re complaining about a perceived inaccuracy of the film adaptation of a stage adaptation of a book you misread and didn’t enjoy a decade ago?
…ok. You do you, I guess.
November 24, 2024 at 5:54 PM
Is it? Do you have a quote/ page number for that? I think you’re conflating the wizard with Turtle Heart. I can’t remember anything indicating that they’re the same person, or that the Wizard is a shape-shifter.
Isn’t the whole point that the Wizard is a fraud with no real power of his own?

-Elphaba is green.
-she’s been played by about 20 actors on stage, including black, Latina, and Asian actresses. There is almost no consistency in the actresses’s appearance out of makeup.

The Wizard didn’t have a years long affair with her parents. That was Turtleheart. The Wizard was a brief fling with Elphaba’s mother.

Best thing I’ve seen on the internet today. Possibly this week.
