I who am. At least I think I am. Am I? Player of games. Pusher of pedals. Listener of audiobooks. Involuntary gardener trying to keep our pollinator overlords appeased. Sadly still a contributor to greenhouse emissions.
A new fear unlocked, AI joining forces with fascism. "Electronic pareidolia." "if you program your computers to expect wrongdoing, then they'll most certainly find it."
Guess I'm feeding the algorithm, but silencing myself is the fascists winning.

This is Target's home page for the Labor Day weekend. CEO hates unions so much they don't even allow the word "LABOR" in their Labor Day marketing. (del and repost since I forgot alt text for image)

When Target's fascist enabler CEO is so afraid of unions that their marketing isn't even allowed to say Labor Day. The 1% having all the money will obliterate any need his store.
Labor Day is suppose to be a celebration of the sacrifices prior generations made to lead us to a more equitable society.

Wow! Either this is an electric fire truck or large fire trucks are prone to have asshole drivers too.
Just sitting there idling, no other emergency vehicles or firepersons in sight.

@marthawells.com Came across this passage in Steven Gould's Jumper (1992). Nice to be a safe haven for readers all this time.

What is the Mystery of the Semi-Colon? It has yet to be revealed to me. I need Terry Pratchett's traveling teachers, but eggs are a bit pricey still.

MO citizens are taking steps to rein in the legislature. MO constitutional amendment we'll be trying to get on 2026 fall general election. Still organizing so we need the word spread, volunteers (no paid signature gatherers, and for many other functions), and donations.

There is a MO Constitutional amendment being organized to put an end to the legislature continuously overriding MO voters. Should be on the November 2026 ballot. Please join, help, donate, and spread the word!

Want to extract revenge on the imposition of an unjust autonormative society forcing you to drive? Right turn on red is not mandatory.

Yield, No Left Turn, Stop, Do Not Enter, Merge, Stop Light Ahead. Those were the signs I had to identify on my DMV vision test today. If they put a pedestrian crossing sign on the test the vast majority of MO drivers couldn't pass.

Thank you, I now have a permanent addition to my listening library.

Probably the same rack, but further in the same linked code section is the spacing requirements.

And today Broadway has both mid-block crosswalk and a skyway.

My city, within St. Louis County MO, actually has an ordinance on allowed bicycle racks, spacing, and how many required. Seems overly authoritarian until you see crap like that.

Just 2 of the many city and transportation ebooks included in this sale. If, for some reason, you buy them from amazon be sure to download and keep your purchase safe before Weds.

I told Great Rivers Greenway that the hex stop signs should be replaced by rectangular signs with a stop sign printed within them that aren't visible to drivers. Their response was basically that is not how we do it and it isn't allowed. Here is a stop sign printed in a rectangular sign.
January 26, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Is this a pedestrian crossing or not? Road markings and yellow sign would say yes, therefore driver must stop. But the driver can see a red stop sign facing the trail and hex shape facing the opposite side. So driver assumes that clearly the trail user are required to stop not them.

My marvelous local library may have made a slight signage oversight. But it is kinda funny.

@katiekull1.bsky.social hasn't gotten the memo. The SUV wasn't an autonomous self-driving actor, the driver was the agent. The SUV was merely the implement in this road violence incident. In fact the SUV having a driver is never mentioned nor is the crosswalk at Tallie Dr.

Reminds me of this multi-use path in St Louis area. Route is heavily used by wielrenners, but they chose to use the roadway. Far safer. Drivers usually give plenty of space due to the turn lane, don't have to deal with the constant stop signs on the path, and cars stopping on the crossings.

Listened to the story Radicalized by Cory Doctorow (2019). May be a warning about even being adjacent to radical people can endanger your future, but the descriptions and reasoning used for violent action against insurers in the US is extremely topical. Is fictional #youshouldbeafraid a thing now?
