I paused at a café run by Mrs. Anna Possi, Italy’s oldest café owner at 101. She said: “I baked this yesterday evening.” I enjoyed coffee with the cake as she brought it—with a smile and brisk steps. Her energy reminded me that age need not limit us, and her smile gave me momentum for life.

Zastavila jsem se v malé italské vesnici Nebbiuno mezi jezery Orta a Maggiore, v jedné kavárně. Kavárna byla trochu opotřebovaná, ale paní kavárnice byla velmi milá. Ukázala na jablečnou buchtu a řekla: „Tu jsem pekla včera večer.“ Paní Anna Possi je nejstarší kavárnice v Itálii, je jí 101 let.
