As a test I just switched over to the discover page, and the first 10ish posts were almost exactly the same as my following page (including this one). So I'd guess it has to do with that.

While I agree, I also think that the best games are ones that treat gaming as the iterative medium that it is and learn from past games as well.

I learned my lesson with kingdom hearts 3. Nowadays these long development cycles don't bother me at all. I'll play the game when it comes out, and play other games while I'm waiting.

They may have had it as an internal date, but Xbox should not have commented until that was set in stone.

One of the biggest criticisms of the games back then was that there were too many different gameplay styles instead of just focusing on the core sonic gameplay. Sonic's friends got the blame placed on them since they were how those extra gameplay styles were implemented.
