Yep good policy, but not a substantial policy.

What's the context? Reference to Good's poetry?
January 11, 2026 at 12:04 AM
(that's without getting into the issues with taxing unique assets like one of a kind artworks, real estate in extremely niche markets, etc)
January 10, 2026 at 11:50 PM
Makes it worse actually, someone with 10 million dollars can't afford 1 let alone a team of people on staff to help them hide their money. ☹️

I'm still on the tax PAL loans and close the stepped up basis estate tax loophole boat. I think it gets us 99% of the way to the same goal with less effort.
January 10, 2026 at 11:47 PM
That's the general problem with wealth taxes, hiring an army of skilled assessors does not come cheap.
January 10, 2026 at 10:13 PM
I mean I suspect that the fact that a hypothetical wealth tax would cost about as much to implement as it actually collects is a big factor in why a lot of Billionaires are against it.

I'm pretty pro tax but if you taxed a 100 dollar bill and just set it on fire in front of me I'd be a offended.

contemporary leftism is dominated by confused proudhonists.
January 10, 2026 at 8:37 PM
Chomsky brain idiocy. Every news website I just looked at had it front and center on their front page. It's a big story! It's a story so big it's impossible to escape it.

And yet when we get to 2026 I will guarantee you the economy will be more important to voters. That's just how it is.
January 10, 2026 at 8:35 PM
🙄 yeah voters love being told the things they care most about are non-issues. No, we need to attack them on ICE, Tariffs, Inflation, making illegal acts of war without congress's approval. Leave no angle uncovered.
January 8, 2026 at 6:34 AM
I don't think anyone's saying to avoid ICE. But inflation is still the number one thing with a bullet people care about. Would be extremely fucking foolish not to hit Republicans hard on Tariffs and inflation, when it's their least popular issue by far.

Fish supremacist more like. 😏
January 4, 2026 at 12:45 PM
Like I mean it's no secret, we don't need to euphemize how he got were he did.
January 4, 2026 at 5:07 AM
I mean kinda, but it was more about never threatening to remove someone from commission assignments to make sure they tow the party line. I think this mealy mouth shit is just incompetence from a man chosen for what he wouldn't do more than what he could do.
January 4, 2026 at 5:04 AM
I would like to suggest we work from big to small in terms of problems. AI water usage is objectively a very minor problem probably not worthy of much time.
AI energy usage isn't particularly big, but it probably makes the list albeit much further down than personal automobile usage.
January 3, 2026 at 7:01 PM
We use less than 1% of the water we use on corn on AI. The vast majority of this corn is used to make ethanol to burn in our cars. And again AI doesn't have to use water cooling. 🤷‍♂️
January 3, 2026 at 6:45 PM
So about 0.2% of water which is an order of magnitude less than 4%. 🤷‍♂️
January 3, 2026 at 5:07 PM
No they shouldn't be ignored with the exception of lawyers who should always be ignored.
January 3, 2026 at 5:36 AM
I mean did they go centrist, seems more like they lost any ambition to take on real problems in ways most popularists would disdain.

Gave up on housing, gave up on pension reform, gave up on green energy policy.
January 3, 2026 at 2:15 AM
Yes, the energy is an order of magnitude more of an issue than the water usage. The water usage is only a issue in certain very water scarce regions and there are readily available alternatives like air cooling and immersion cooling that don't use water.
