F1 is already hybrid, and they already essentially use the battery power as a boost (you will hear them talking about harvesting energy then deploying it tactically) the drs replacement increases the deployment allowance for similar effect.

It's electrical now, so the car 1 sec behind gets a bit of extra energy deployment. This might be interesting because the overtaking car is going to eat their battery to overtake and potentially be vulnerable to a counterattack.

Maybe? F1 kind of needs Drs because no one could pass at all before it came in. Fast, high downforce, aero dependant cars will always struggle to follow closely

Manual override replaces it. Works similarly where if you are within 1 second you get a boost, but it's extra electrical deployment, not a wing.
So it works better on low downforce tracks, and importantly is it isnt free. You eat your battery when you pass with it.
