"Learned helplessness" route instead of "literally can't harm sinners" would've been more interesting for his character, imo. Like maybe the reason he's so deep into a depression is because of his position + wife leaving + daughter going low-contact BUT ALSO because-1/2

It was like a scene out of Looney Tunes. Everyone went quiet, everything went still, and I'd managed to catch myself just before I slammed into the teacher and was now awkwardly balancing on one foot trying not to fall forward
