As with a lot of this stuff I guess it's a "wait and see what happens" situation. Which is tough because once it happens it seems too late to be mad about it.

You're right he doesn't have that power.. but no one seems to be stopping him from letting Elon fire everyone willy nilly. No one has defined what DOGE is specifically, defining that would come with specific restrictions... But they are keeping it vague so there's no precedent to limit it.
