Here's a page taken out of context. Three of Jupiter’s Galilean moons are kinda 'lost'.They usually line up like ducks in a row. This emulation was set for 18:34 EST December 18. #astronomy

Enjoying the first cup of coffee this morning when I opened my astronomy app, I noticed Jupiter in the western sky. I zoomed in, and this is what showed up. #astronomy

An incredible shot by astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy. McCarthy says the photo is one of the “most meticulously planned” shots of his career, which has seen no shortage of carefully-planned images that have captured the world’s imagination. #astrophotography #astronomy

The far side of the Moon brought to you by the Chinese Chang'e 5-T1 spacecraft. I realize that Pink Floyd called it the Dark Side of the Moon, but as you can see, there is no dark side; we just don't see it.

This might help. Take a look at the date and time. If you know the date and time of your picture, let me know.

Meet WHO G64; a dying star located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite dwarf galaxy companion of the Milky Way 160,000 LY distance. It’s 2000 times the size of the Sun.

Here is a simulation of Saturn using Stellarium Plus with the date and time shown. I thought that it would be fun to emulate the astrophotography that you captured. Do you recall what time it was when you took the photo?

I thought I had seen the Spanish Dancer Galaxy in a previous issue of Sky&Telescope. So I looked through the issues and, sure enough, there it was, from an article written on March 19, 2023.

I was able to emulate your capture. The black dot is indeed the shadow of IO from our perspective at the indicated date and time. The app I'm using is Stellarium Plus. My location is Barnwell County in South Carolina.
