Let's be honest its not about company culture its about control, power, and ego. The case study is proven for 2 years, remote work was effective and worked well. The problem was we made to much money! If you worked 4 or 5 contracts you were protected, you had control. They don't like that.

This is so true. The days of the "Developers" are gone now. Now it's based upon ideas and vision. Time to scale has been greatly decreased. Now firms and have an idea, and get it to market in days not months or years.
