Masterful exchange by Carney. He knows how easily Trump can be distracted and placated with a simple compliment. He stated Canada’s position firmly, eloquently, without obsequiousness, and then gave Trump a nice lollipop to make him happy.

Of course he would veto it. But even if they don’t get a veto proof majority, he’ll still be on record as vetoing a bill intended to limit his overreach. And it will force Republicans in Congress to make a decision on the record. This bill needs to happen.
