Speaker Don Scott

Husband, dad, attorney, and delegate representing the 88th House District. 58th Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates
Under Trump, the job market is tanking. Republicans are focused on tax cuts for billionaires while shutting down the government and ripping healthcare away from millions. Virginia Republicans don't want to talk about the economy, job losses or the Trump shutdown at all.

Happy Labor Day! Workers are the backbone of Virginia, and House Democrats will always stand with them — fighting for fair wages, paid leave, and the dignity every worker has earned.

Republicans are working to raise prices on hardworking Virginians. They are too terrified to defy Trump kowtowing for his endorsement even as he destroys Virginia's economy and drives up the cost of healthcare and housing.

I'm honored to receive the Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. Soaring Eagle Award from American Association for Justice. Thank you so much, trial lawyers!

I became a lawyer to fight for folks who’ve been overlooked and underestimated.

On the campus of UVA now and a sign of hope appears. Hang in there everyone, the best is still ahead!

This is the greatest country in the world. And on July 4th, 1776, it made a promise to be a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. Our journey to "a more perfect Union" continues.

Happy Fourth of July 🇺🇸

We flipped the House in 2023. Now we’re going to expand our majority.

Great to be with so many fired-up Democrats at the Blue Commonwealth Gala.

We’ve got the momentum. We’ve got the message. We’ve got the candidates— it’s general election time!

Happy Juneteenth! Today is a celebration of freedom — hard fought, long delayed, and still unfinished!

We honor our ancestors who came before us. We fight for those still waiting on justice. And we keep the faith that better days will come!

There is no higher honor than raising your right hand to serve this country and no greater sacrifice than laying down your life in its defense. On Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom, our safety, and our future.

It’s rare to find someone as committed to service as Congressman Gerry Connolly, and even rarer to see such a lasting impact. Mellanda and I are deeply saddened by his passing and send our heartfelt condolences to his family. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Proud to announce I've been elected to serve on the @thedlcc.bsky.social’s Board of Directors! @thedlcc.bsky.social has long been a strategic partner to Virginia Dems, and I’m excited to strengthen that relationship as we fight to defend and expand our majority in the House this year!

Big win for moms across the Commonwealth! 12 MOMnibus bills have been passed and signed into law—bills that will tackle the maternal health crisis and save lives. Proud to be part of this progress.

Happy Easter! I'm grateful for this day of renewal and the celebration of Christ's triumph over death and a reminder of the power of
God in our lives to resurrect any situation.

During Black Maternal Health Week, I’m proud to reaffirm my commitment to tackling this crisis head on and making sure every mother and child has access to the care, dignity, and support they deserve.

Proud of what we got done this session—focused on putting Virginians first and making life more affordable. We took on the rising costs of housing, child care, health care, and more. Real progress, real relief.

Wishing everyone a joyful Passover filled with peace and hope!

Sic semper tyrannis: Thus Always to Tyrants. We don’t like kings in Virginia and we’re ready to fight for Virginia’s workers.

Proud to stand with @abigailspanberger.com, Chair Bagby, Del. LeVere Bolling, and labor leaders as we rally for Virginia’s workers!

Unfortunately, Virginia Republicans are too terrified of Trump and Musk to stand up to them while they are destroying our economy.
April 4, 2025 at 1:05 AM
Turns out Republicans/Musk efforts to bribe and buy an election failed! Wisconsin voters saw right through the chaos and rejected it. MAGA was embarrassed, DOGE got sent a message that we don't like big tax increases and the mistreatment of veterans. America won big!

But 34 year veteran Two Star General Wins was unqualified to continue at VMI.

"Youngkin appointee to lead state police was suspended for flipping cruiser after drinking"

"This decision by the VMI Board is not based on performance or character-it is purely political..."

Read my and Governor Northam statement on BOV's decision not to extend superintendent Major General Cedric Wins’ contract VMI’s 15th Superintendent and the first Black superintendent:

They are doing great harm to our veterans and military. They cancel VA contracts and then reverse course in less than 24 hours!
Welcome to a normal Wednesday with these incompetent, ineffective "leaders.”

We adjourned Sine Die, and I’m proud of the work we accomplished—passing bills and a budget that put Virginians first.

From lowering p-drug costs to tackling the housing crisis, delivering $1B+ in tax cuts, and investing $$$ in our schools, kids & families. The work continues.

Thank you @maddow.msnbc.com for having me on the show last night to talk about my committee to understand the impacts of federal workforce and funding cuts in Va.

If Congress won’t do their jobs,we’ll do our jobs and make sure we step up to protect Virginia families and their livelihoods.
