Hey 🏗️,

After the emotional setback of my first, and hopefully last, refund request from an early sponsor, I woke up to an email from a new customer who’s onboarding and eager to share CareNote with colleagues in sister churches. The ups and downs of building a SaaS. #buildinpublic

Hey 🏗️,

Bittersweet day: a large church signed up, but one of my earliest CareNote sponsors cancelled and asked for a refund––a first for me.

But I also shipped SMS care-request acceptance and email-to-CareNote forwarding, features I’ve long dreamt about but never had time to build. #buildinpublic

I’m at home instead of council chambers tonight, but I’m baking lemon crumble cookies. Round two. These are perfect. The crumble is perfect. #a2council

Beautiful to see such a diverse group of voices sharing why they love Ann Arbor and believe in building a more welcoming, sustainable, and connected city. These talks capture the best of who we can be together. #a2council

Made these cookies tonight. My scoops were enormous. I’ll reduce by a third next time. Inspired by @strongman.bsky.social #a2council

AAPS wouldn’t allow this as it would impact parents from dropping off their kids on their way.

Instead AAPS has designed drivelines at every new school they are building.

Biked the newly opened Broadway Park West last night. Grateful for more riverfront park space and for a safer, wider way to cross the river—using the new 10-ft path bridge instead of walking bikes over the dam bridge. #a2council

You are so right! We still live with the ghosts of NIMBYs-past. In Ann Arbor, we can’t build taller than 267ft because decades ago someone disliked tall buildings. They’re gone, but we still live with their fears and limits. Our community suffers because cities aren’t meant to be museums. #a2council

I missed the ribbon cutting because of a Planning Commission meeting, but my heart is so full! I advocated for this housing 13 years ago. Grateful @avalonhousing.bsky.social is bringing 50 affordable units to our neighborhood & to welcome my new neighbors. #a2council

Last night at the citizen participation meeting for 2900 S. Main Street development, a neighbor said, “In 82 years, this is the worst city I’ve ever lived in. The Council & Planning Commission are a bunch of half-wits.” I was introduced as a CPC member: “Hi 👋🏾, I’m one of those half-wits.” #a2council

Working on trial conversions for CareNote. Should I extend the trial 14 more days when they add a credit card, or offer the extension after a 1-on-1 demo? 🤔 These new dashboard prompts aim to help folks choose their next step. Thoughts? #buildinpublic

Every year, a friend sends us strawberry candies from Japan—you can’t get them here! We send back mini Snickers and other American classics. Today, I shared 2 of my final 3 sacred strawberry KitKats with my daughter and her friend. Not sure the friend grasped the importance. #gifts #gratitude

Just added an intent survey to CareNote’s registration form! Now I’m getting real-time data on time to decision, decision makers, roles, and the problems users are trying to solve. Not sure why I didn’t do this from the jump, but it’s golden. #buildinpublic

Another SEO win today. CareNote is now ranking for "pastoral care parishsoft".

CareNote is also the feature response for the Google AI summary at the top of the search results.

CareNote is the sixth (6th) organic response for the search and is on first page search results. 🙌🏾

Excited that my CareNote ParishSoft integration page is ranking in Google. It's the first organic search for "pastoral care catholic parishsoft integration" and "pastoral care parishsoft integration" 🙌🏾

Working on improving my conversions for CareNote from 11% to 20%.

It looks like the best value proposition is:

Sign up → Import/Create people → Create Care Request → See value → Invite team → Convert

What do you notice and what would you tell me to do improve conversions? #buildinpublic

Back at it this morning, working on improving the CareNote marketing site. I got a notice today that I’ve crossed 500 clicks in the past 28 days on Google—all from organic search. Now, how do I convert those clicks into trials, and trials into subscribers? #buildinpublic

Continuing to improve my landing page for CareNote to answer the question, “Who is CareNote for?” Here’s my latest attempt.

How do you answer that question for your product?

I'm supposed to be coding, but took a break and watched the UConn vs South Carolina game. Sarah Strong is an incredible player, wow! And a freshman to boot! 114+ points in the tournament, most of any player. Incredible! #congrats #NCAAWBB

If you advocate for more housing or more neighbors in Ann Arbor, you might get called a zealot by a neighbor. #a2council

Missing the sunshine from Spring Break on this cold, gray, and rainy day in Michigan.

Grateful for today! We traded sun-drenched skies and long golden hours for the gray embrace of the North once more. But even here, in the gray North, the earth is stirring—buds are blooming, and hope is rising. #SpringIsComing
