I've always adored the work of Terry Mosher, a Canadian political cartoonist. He draws as Aislin, the name of his eldest daughter Aislinn (without the second 'n') and hides her name in his pen-and-ink cartoons. So I've had lots of practice looking very carefully. Check out Michael De Adder, too!
