I want to take you seriously, but it's hard to do so when you put an apostrophe in "oligarch's" when you don't mean to make it possessive, but merely plural. It's a misspelling and a very basic one at that.

...polled other Texan journalist emigres in New York I am sure you would uncover many similar experiences. They love to hate on us. That said, I hope you stay in New York at least for awhile. It is a great city full of great people, the self-important ninnies at CJR notwithstanding. You will prevail

...have been of extraordinary importance to 11 people, or thereabouts. I was baffled by it, too, though I carried on, found another job, and had a long career as a journalist and managing editor at publications in and around NYC. Remember Molly Ivins had her issues with the NYTimes, and if you ...

Mr. Chan, regional bias is real. I say this as a Texan who came to New York more than 30 years ago to write for high-end prestigious non profit, who was pushed out after only a few months. I don't read CJR but I am a graduate of the J-school there and I can only imagine that what was at stake to ...

Also this: "What I will say, in order to illustrate the shocking recklessness of this Signal conversation, is that the Hegseth post contained operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing.”

from Heather Cox Richardson: "The decision to steer around government systems was possibly an attempt to hide conversations, since the app was set to erase some messages after a week and others after four weeks. By law, government communications must be archived...."

No, no. The point is not what was actually discussed in the conversation. it was a meeting with several (a dozen?) senior military people and COULD HAVE veered off into territory that would could conceivably put US lives at risk, if it were intercepted. Hegseth told them they were clear on security

Why were they running a chat group on a commercial messaging app like Signal? They're supposed to use special military channels, that's according to the Espionage Act. In any military planning session, American lives could be on the line.

I'm thinking they run their chats on a commercial messaging app like Signal so it's easier for Putin to intercept all the intelligence

And he is saying that Ukraine should never have fought to defend itself, and all of Putin's demans are merely the demands of a reasonable man. WTF???? I have to assume he's gone completely to the dark side. Has anybody been following this? Do you have any idea what happened to him?

However I never thought he was entirely bad. I figured he was just conflicted, because he had a big job and probably pressure on him from all camps. But in the past year or so he has given interview to Tucker Carlson and come out squarely behind Trump. If you go on Youtube you will find many videos

I've been aware of Sachs for many years. When I was working with an alumni climate change group @ Columbia, we had a few meetings with Sachs, who was then running the Earth Institute @ Columbia. To be honest, I was always a little skeptical of him because of his involvement in early GMOs development

Would you be interested in signing a letter to Columbia University from j-school alums that encourages them to honor students First Amendment rights? I am thinking it would be a good effort esp if it included folks from many different class years. I don't want to mention Palestine/Gaza, just the FA

I don't disagree with you. Bernie called for a shutdown and I generally go along with Bernie, so I think Schumer probably made the wrong choice. What I'm saying now is that we don't need to spend energy pushing people out of the party. We need to work on bringing people in, including centrists
