Yeah I started playing through World and Icborne recently and the railroading at the beginning nearly made me bounce off, but now I love these games. Shame the early game is still a bit of a slog.

In total or for each caliber? In either case, do what New Vegas did, love that shit. I get kinda bothered when games have two guns that share the same ammo despite clearly being designed for different calibers, or when stuff like armor pen is applied by weapon mods instead of switching to AP ammo.
