Really makes me feel super safe and relaxed when my morning walk to get coffee (in Santa Ana) is flanked by the National Guard

Also not at all anxious that they’re hanging out by the local Latino health center

TIL Huntington Beach is a sanctuary city, per the DHS list of cities “defying federal immigration law”

HB declared itself “non-sanctuary” city earlier this year and its leaders are basically Trump’s fan club presidents

The re-entry + legal problems aside, lol @ $1000 — it may go further in other countries, but if you have like 5 kids and you have to totally re-situate yourself in Country B from scratch, that’s hardly any help for all your expenses (esp. if said kids are still in the U.S.)

Does this count as #poliskycooks? Had to use the stove and will use it on the stove, so…

Stripped and re-seasoned a near-antique cast iron skillet I found at an estate sale. Took four days and lots of elbow grease. First two pics are before, second two are after restoration.

Did not have Norris and Inglehart on my Board of Supervisors meeting bingo card

“He could describe his experience in the Adelanto facility only as demeaning — from the way he was addressed by guards, to the bureaucratic runaround of his immigration case, to watching those with a language barrier unable to represent themselves.“

Cannot stress how many emails I’ve gotten, posts I’ve seen, and materials I’ve received recently from trusted community members and leaders that are trying to get people to stop blasting unverified information about ICE sightings everywhere

Beautiful sight in front of the Sacramento state Capitol building today — hundreds and hundreds of folks from all over CA coming together to tell Gov. Newsom and #CALeg to use their powers to act now to protect all Californians and ensure CA resources don’t go to mass deportations
