What’s a discrete way of indicating to someone that they’ve spelt and said my name wrong to students on multiple occasions?

Asking for a friend

I found out someone who infamously failed their PhD in Korea due to plagiarism might be at my old university and it kinda makes me feel uncomfortable that they might still in academia.

I was aware that this person has been in the UK for the past few years but this feels different I guess

It is a sad day today.

We live in a world where elected officials do not reflect the views of the people.

Where politicians choose party over democracy.

Where an aspiring dictator can remain in power because a third of parliament chose not to cast their votes.

07/12/2024 the day democracy died in the Korean Peninsula

Rather depressing news to wake up to on a weekend:
All but one of the ruling party members in South Korea have left parliament before the impeachment vote and while there have been a few returnees, as it stands it is not enough for the bill to pass.
What a disgrace to democracy

In light of the end of the martial law in Korea I thought it might be good to try and translate the proclamation declared by the military because it is hilarious how contradictory and absurd it all is (apologies for any errors):

(Soon to be ex) president of South Korea lifts martial law.

Time for impeachment and arrest?
December 3, 2024 at 7:40 PM
So I’m hearing now that there were military task forces deployed to attempt to arrest the speaker and leaders of the ruling and opposition parties by breaking into their offices?
Wow this could’ve gone so much worse in Korea

Well that’s my afternoon of work gone down the drain, cheers Yoon

Parliament just voted to end martial law!
December 3, 2024 at 4:02 PM
Apparently over half the parliament needs to vote to end martial law and MPs are trying to enter the parliament building and vote while special forces soldiers are also trying to force their way into the building..
Not a good look especially given the country’s history with similar incidents

I had the opportunity to give a short flash talk in London yesterday.
It was less than 5 minutes long and for a general audience but I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and all of the great feedback I received.
Hopefully the first of many!

I had the opportunity to be reacquainted with people from my secondary school yesterday.
My personal highlight of the day was seeing my A-level maths teacher again and him telling me that seeing me go into a maths (adjacent) field is the kind of thing that makes them feel worthwhile

Nothing quite like seeing snow mid November to tell you that you’re up north now

@mmylova.bsky.social @nikosarcevic.com hi, I don’t know if this is the best way to ask but do you plan to create a ukcosmo page on here in the future? Since the website no longer exists, the only point of contact is X or the mailing list these days.

Thanks!
