For some reason I missed this when it was first posted. I would recommend Dumbing Of Age as well. David Willis posts on Bluesky quite regularly about Transformers as well as posting a daily update of DOA. It has been around for quite a long time.

When I was 8, I would get chocolate at Easter, Halloween (if I was lucky), and at Xmas.

Frankly, I like the sound of your cake better than the one my mother made. TBH, I am not fond of strawberries, and she would use those frozen ones because fruit fruit out of season wasn't much of a thing then.

I had to look up Victoria Sponge (hoping it wasn't lewd) to find out what it was. For some reason my mother would call it Strawberry Shortcake, and make it with a sponge cake she bought from Safeway (I was still a kid).

I agree that added Hollerith cards and a card punch machine should count a bonus points. Ditto if you needed to use a card sorter after dropping your deck of Hollerith cards.

One of my aunts, an old Hungarian woman, who lived in a small farm near Portage la Prairie, used to make me fried bread dough as a treat when I was young. I would carry it around the farm, tearing off a piece with my teeth and calling it "chewing tobacco". It was wonderful.

We bought a bunch of those 600 ml square, glass food containers with the plastic lids from Ikea, and store it in them. I find it keeps for several months without freezer burn (at least for us). I use them for most things though I have had freezer burn issues with meat leftovers if left too long.

Young at heart counts for something after all!

I used to like it as well. Now I just make my own but there is something to be said about opening a tin when you just want one meal vs making a huge pot and freezing it.
