A night on the wonderful @europeansleeper.eu from Amsterdam to Prague. Still a couple of hours to the end of this line so we’re taking the time enjoying our tasty breakfast boxes as the train tracks the Elbe through eastern Germany #travelwithkids

Well you take a dozen eggs, and a cup of milk,
And don’t forget to add a little flour.
And then you beat it up with a wooden spoon,
And leave it to settle for just one hour.

My #safari adventure with Heidi is in @thetimes.com today. There’s a lot in here: penguins in the Kalahari Desert; a tortoise who’d lost its shell; even Sean Bean turns up at one point. This was an important trip, specifically chosen with Heidi’s #dyslexia in mind ⁦‪⁦‪#travelwithkids

Found myself thinking about those Romans earlier today, so I went for a wander around Julius Caesar’s old stomping ground

Always a thrill to see my name in Nat Geo Traveller mag, this time with a round-up of the best new family trips for 2025. Coral conservation projects in #Indonesia, ice hotels in #Romania, archaeological adventures in #Egypt… there’s a lot to do out there next year #travelwithkids #familytravel

Fun memories of rocking up in Villa de Leyva, in the foothills of the Andes, as #Colombia were playing a World Cup qualifier. Made some friends watching the game in a tiny cafe (“James Rodríguez es bueno!”), before heading out to wander the area’s pre-Columbian sites.

Last month’s last-minute solo escape to #India. My game was to track down some tigers, and I came away with a crushing victory. Free bonus travel trip: Zone 3 of Ranthambore National Park is the most beautiful place on Earth.

Our first lads’ trip, just me and Barney, a 48-hour scramble around #Gdansk, taking in Baltic beaches, dino parks, the world’s largest castle and a particularly well-named festival #Poland #travelwithkids

This time last year: a rare trip with my dad, shortly before his cancer surgery. A blissful long weekend on the Isle of Skye, with whisky tasting, a ramble to the crumbling ruins of Knock Castle, soothing loch views and a fragile glimmer of aurora.

One of the all-time greats: travelling with the best sidekick in the game to #Zimbabwe, #Namibia and #Botswana this summer. Vic Falls, safari drives, Okavango Delta, ancient rock art, camping in the wild, core memories #travelwithkids
