Trade unionist and policy geek. Labour through and through, whatever the weather. He/him. Views entirely my own (and generally too detailed).
Serving as a Member of Parliament is a privilege. It is incompatible with membership of the Liberal Democrats.

I’m not one for constant BBC-bashing, but headlines like “Union bosses held up Birmingham bin deal” do a lot of heavy lifting. Giving one side of the dispute centre stage, inviting readers to start from their version of events — before you’ve even clicked the link.

It's good that the Royal College of Psychiatrists will now give evidence, but psychiatrists were always set to be formally represented, even if indirectly.

The sittings motion proposed by those opposing the bill, however, would have completely excluded nursing from formal representation at all.

Opponents of assisted dying have tabled a sittings motion for the bill committee, listing witnesses—with no trade union representation. Whatever your view, given the impact on staff and the ongoing debate about protections for those who do or don’t want to participate, this is deeply disappointing.

The last Labour government rightly scrapped the archaic offence of sedition—because we actually believe in free speech.

But when you see headlines like this, you can’t help but question the loyalty of some on the right to our country.

We need to stop indulging the 'lived experience' of the entitled rich. Even if £1 million was your total savings, calling it 'modest' isn't just out of touch – it's absurd. Words still have meaning, even for the, demonstrably, wealthy.

Labour has been raising taxes on the rich, with the Liberals, Greens, and Independent Alliance opposing various measures.

If they side with the wealthy few even in opposition, how much more would they capitulate in government?

It’s Labour vs the rest.

Riddle me this: is all coffee ice cream, by definition, iced coffee ice cream?

(I don't do well with days off)
