Oooh! I heard my first woodpecker in York on the solar system cycle path today. Was delightful!

I'm still recovering from watching it with pals last night. I don't *remember* a carrot, but it had enough of a fever dream quality that something like that may have escaped my attention in the overwhelm

I think about the years I didn't let myself seek out, or even enjoy, interacting with animals and nature - opportunities missed, but I'm so glad I can tap into that part of me so freely now
